Domain Price Increase and Late Fee Removal

An industry wide domain price increase takes effect today, July 1, 2010. Like our competitors, there is a fee we must pay to the company that owns the TLD we are registering, renewing, or transferring. Unfortunately, due to the small marginal profit on domain names, when a TLD owner increases their price, we ultimately must pass that to our members. We do apologize for the inconvenience; if it were up to us, we would not increase domain prices.

However, while we are already paying the higher fees, we will honor our current domain prices for the next few days (if you need a small extension on this grace period and have a legit reason, please open a support ticket). Otherwise, we recommend registering, renewing, or transferring your domains as soon possible before the domain price increase is implemented within our system.

Also, we will add some new TLDs that will be available for registration within the next few days. If there is any particular TLD you are looking for, let us know and we will get it added, if possible.

Lastly, admitting when we are wrong, we would like to take this time rescind our decision on implementing a $10 automatic late fee on invoices that are 10 days past due; automatic applied late fees on invoices has now been stopped. Also, this decision is retroactive; meaning that if you already paid late fees or have late fees on your invoice currently, then just open a support ticket and we will give you credit for the late fees you paid or remove the late fees from your invoice.

If you have any questions or needs, please contact us.

R1Soft Backup

We are happy to announce our new backup system is now complete and enabled for the members who have the R1Soft Backup addon (previously known as the Automated Backup Service addon) with their hosting accounts.

The new backup system allows us to now take a daily, weekly, and monthly snapshot of your hosting account; which is then transferred to a secured offsite server. Additionally, members who have the R1Soft Backup addon, now have the ability restore files directly from within their own cPanel.

If you have ever overwritten, deleted, or had your employees or customers do the same; then we highly recommend to add the R1Soft Backup addon to your hosting accounts for peace of mind that you will always have an available backup on a secured offsite server.

If you are interested with the R1Soft Backup addon, please contact our sales department at sales@bihira.com; our sales team will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the R1Soft Backup addon.

Changelog of Planned Maintenance March 23, 2010

PHP was updated to 5.2.13; this release focuses on improving the stability of the PHP 5.2.x branch with over 40 bug fixes, some of which are security related.

Apache Module mod_deflate was compiled with Apache; the mod_deflate module provides the DEFLATE output filter that allows output from your site to be compressed before being sent to the client over the network. Basically, if activated on your hosting account; it will compress the page, thus reduce the usage of bandwidth by the web server and, at the same time, increase the speed of the content delivery. To enable it for your hosting account; login into cPanel, click on the Optimize Website button, and notice the new options for compressing your site.

Available updates on any PEAR packages or Ruby Gems were applied.

Kernel was upgraded.

Some additional backend changes were done to our Automated Backup Service addon; eventually, allowing better and more exciting features from this addon. We will reveal more information in the upcoming months when all the changes have been completed.

If any of our members have any questions regarding this changelog, please feel free to contact us.
